As requested, we're reprising one of our most successful and fun programs for September -- Tip Sharing. Those who attended a similar session years ago are still using the tips generated in this extraordinary sharing of ideas.

The September meeting will take place at our regular meeting time of 1 pm at the Belle Isle Library. Everyone is encouraged to do a show-and-tell of ONE tip that has aided them in their writing or their writing life. When presenting your tip to the group, please use the KISS principle -- keep it short and simple! -- so we can steal, er, harvest everyone's terrific ideas.

Hello Outlaws,

Ahhhhh September, it’s finally here. For me it means our first chance at a break in the summer heat and a hope for that cool crisp air blowing through open windows in my house. Cool weather means dinners that I can put in the oven or a pot early leaving my afternoons free to sit in the back yard soaking up the, now not so hot, sun while working on my WIP. It’s a quiet reflective time before gearing up for the holidays. I for one intend to enjoy, I hope you do too.

I am finally home from my travels and ready to catch up with all of you. I feel like I’ve been gone much longer than two months. I must apologize for a lengthy absence from my presidential duties. The problems my family has faced has certainly been a challenge for all of us. I know many of you have also learned the true meaning of, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” My family has learned the true meaning of working together to get through a difficult time. I am happy to report that we are getting stronger daily and with the help of God and good friends we are gonna make it.

Fortunately we have fantastic women in our group who not only step up but go above and beyond for our chapter. Everything is on track for a great meeting in September. It will be at our regular time at the Belle Isle Library. We will all be sharing one tip that helps us in our writing endeavors so come prepared.

Linda Goodnight has signed a new three book contract with Love Inspired. She has also agreed to write a historical novella for Barbour.

Linda's book, A Season for Grace, is nominated for ACFW's (American Christian Fiction Writers') Book of the Year award. Her Harlequin Romance, Married Under the Mistletoe, won first place in the Bookseller's Best contest.

Elle James Harlequin Intrigue Blown Away, recently reviewed at CataRomance, will be the Intrigue under discussion for September on CataRomance's chat loop.

Debbie Behrens,manuscript Jumpin’ J Ranch finaled in the Single Title Category of the San Francisco Area RWA’s 2007 Heart to Heart Contest. Her manuscript Crash and Burn aka Racing Hearts finaled in the Romantic Suspense Category of the same contest.

Margaret Daley’s Love Inspired Hearts on the Line is a finalist in the Book of the Year contest for Romantic Suspense with American Christian Fiction Writers.

Foreign Rights Sale

Debut author Jordan Dane sold foreign rights to her first 3-book series with Avon HarperCollins. The series is set for domestic release April through June 2008- No One Heard Her Scream , No One Left to Tell, No One Lives Forever. Jordan Dane Featured on Internet Voices Radio

October is National Violence Awareness month, and in September, host Jacqueline Sue of Internet Voices Radio will profile authors and other artists whose works move toward the elimination of violence against women. On September 13th at 8:30-9pm CST, Jordan Dane will be featured as an author
known for creating strong female characters. She'll talk about her first 3-book series released in 2008 and her book research on topics such as online predators (the new 'hunting' ground) and human trafficking (the modern day slave trade). For more information, please visit www.jordandane.com.
