OK Corral January 2006

From our Prez, Deborah Behrens:

Happy New Year, Ladies!

First off, I want to thank you all for having enough confidence in me to elect me as your new president. We have an eager board for 2006 and I think it’s going to be a terrific year.

The past twelve months have been so great. Terri and her board have accomplished much more than any incoming board could expect. We’re gaining new members every month and are seeing many familiar faces once again. Thanks to our Program Committee, we had some wonderful visitors that were full of inspiration and knowledge. Many of our published authors enlightened us with their wisdom, we learned new things about the medical field, and Linda Howard delighted us with her southern style. I didn’t think it could get any better. Then we had the P.I.T.T. crew and got a chilling glimpse of the “other side”.

I’m so excited about the beginning line-up this year. Dan Johnson from the OSU-OKC Criminal Science Division, Nancy Berland of the Nancy Berland Public Relations Agency, and Margaret Terwey, the National Romance Buyer for Books-A-Million. From the looks of it, we’re heading out of the gate running and I’m sure there are more great programs on the way.

As for personal goals and resolutions; whether it’s not to eat that last piece of cake, to give up those vices we all love so much, or to put our fingers on the keyboard and get that manuscript finished. We all know we can do it. So Ladies, put your minds to it and I know this will be an outstanding year for OKRWA!

SHE’S GOT ISSUES WITH
THE CHRISTMAS ISSUE

B.J. Carlyle—editor of Alpha, the ultimate men’s magazine—grew up amid hot tubs and hot women at the infamous mansion of her father, L.T. Carlyle, the magazine’s publisher. Now she’d out to prove to L.T. that she’s got what it takes to become editor-in-chief—even if it means swallowing her pride and getting Buck Bravo for December’s cover story.

Landing the bestselling author, adventurer and man-of-the-hour is a coup; the competition would kill to get the exclusive. But she and Buck were in love once, and it ended badly. They haven’t seen each other since—except for a recent one-night stand. Now Buck’s insisting B.J. spend the next two weeks with him in the Sierra Mountains and write the story herself. B.J. agrees, but she’s not going to tell Buck she suspects she’s pregnant with his baby.

B.J.’s out to get her story.

She doesn’t need Buck thinking she’s out to get her man.

As she journeys, Brighid discovers that the long-dormant Shaman blood that runs so thickly in her veins will no longer be silenced. As seductive new powers begin to beckon, Brighid glimpses a future that is more impossible -- and more magical -- than any she could have dared to imagine.

But when tragedy summons her back to the Centaur Plains, Brighid must make a decision that will affect not only her friendship with the humans, but the centaur herd and indeed the world. For the Great Goddess Epona has set her on a new path that demands everything she has to give.
When the whole world is turning to her for help, healing the heart of a warrior doesn't sound so daunting . . .
